ADL/IADL Training

Occupational therapists build skills to enhance an individual’s participation and performance during Activities of Daily Living as well as Instrument Activities of Daily Living. They use a process described as Task Analysis to determine which component(s) within the activity is limiting the child’s success.
The OT’s at Integration Station examine the skills required to perform the desired task as well as environmental, and cultural demands. This process determines the child’s skill strengths versus deficits, necessary modifications or adaptations to environment and setup, and consideration of the child and family’s values. Based on this information, a treatment plan is established to increase independence and ultimately lead to successful ADL/IADL performance.
